Lead dogs are generally the fastest, bravest, and most responsive dogs of the team. They set the pace and take direction from the driver. At times, in front of large teams or in storms, they must navigate difficult trails
and make decisions without the musher's guidance since they are out of the musher's sight from the back of the sled. Ideally, most of the dogs in the team have leading experience. We focus on training every dog to lead to the best of their ability
and have been pleased to find that almost all of our dogs have leader talent.
